Last Update on Sep 12, 2005

The annual meeting of the Summer's Grove Homeowners Association on Monday, September 12, 2005 on the greens directly behind the pool started with pizza and refreshments and four current board members in attendance. About 30 homeowners were present.

John Pecic, President of the Association, emphasizes the need for community involvement.

Pecic reiterated the need for volunteers to serve on committees and introduced members of the Architectural Review Board Michael Adams and Brian Scott. The Parking, Recreation, and Landscaping committees have no volunteers at all. Four (4) homeowners were elected to the Board of Directors: John Pecic, Gordon E. White, Zina Raye, and Kyle Dooley. The elections are to 3-year terms. Pecic gave the President's Report.

The success of the Association is based on the active participation of all members, and serving on the Board allows an owner to be more directly involved in the decision making process. Please join us at the first meeting of the new Board in the club house on Monday, October 10 at seven o'clock.

Our liaison Sergeant Tom Magyar described as fun the Citizens' Police Academy which, although the fall session has already begun, will be repeated next year. The city web site offers the Alexandria Police Crime Report Search.

Assessments are due October first, and the quarterly fee is expected to rise next year. The homeowners in attendance supported the Board's previous decision to forgo the use of sand in snow removal. Brian Scott discussed the special use permit amendment sought by Virginia Paving (more information at the Yahoo! Group for Summer's Grove). Pecic was unaware of any current plan to redevelop the parking lots at the Van Dorn Street station Metro.
